The Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation is a non-profit organization established and dedicated to honoring seniors and United States military veterans. The primary focus is on individuals living in long-term care communities. Our mission is to “Give Back To Those Who Have Given”. Through our donors, the Foundation provides Dream Flights in a Boeing Stearman biplane, the same aircraft used to train many military aviators in the 1940’s.

Non-profit Gives Dream Flights to SA Veterans at Stinson Airport During The Big Give SA, May 3

Foundation hopes to raise funds for “The Spirit of San Antonio”

Dream Flyers include a 103-year-old WWII Vet and 92-year-old WWII POW

San Antonio, TX – April 22, 2016 – To raise awareness of their mission to “give back to those who have given” and to raise the funds needed to purchase a vintage PT-17 Stearman to base permanently in the city of San Antonio, Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation (AADF) will participate in The Big Give SA on Tuesday, May 3. AADF will also provide Dream Flights in a Stearman biplane to veterans who are residents of a local senior living community; the flights begin at 9 a.m. at Stinson Municipal Airport, 8535 Mission Rd.

Dream Flyers will include 103-year-old former WWII test pilot, Col. Gerhard Schriever; 92-year-old WWII POW, Lt. Col. Russ Reed, who was shot down in a B-17 in 1944; 95-year-old Maj. James Smith, who flew a C-54 in the Berlin Airlift; and 94-year-old Lt. Col. Oliver Cole, who served as a pilot in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. All are residents of the senior living community, Blue Skies of Texas (formerly known as Air Force Village).

AADF is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2011 to honor seniors and U.S. military veterans living in long-term care facilities. Volunteer pilots travel the country providing veterans free Dream Flights in a vintage 1940s Boeing Stearman biplane. The foundation is supported by donations and sponsorships

The Big Give SA is a 24-hour online day of giving that takes place from midnight to midnight on Tuesday, May 3. The purpose of this community-wide giving challenge is to increase public awareness of the impact local nonprofits make in our community. The Big Give SA also provides individuals with the opportunity to give to the causes that mean the most to them.

“Our hope is to raise enough money to add a fourth plane to our fleet of vintage Stearmans and permanently base that plane at the historic Stinson Airport in San Antonio,” said AADF founder Darryl Fisher. “After giving our first Dream Flights in San Antonio in 2014, we realized very quickly the need to have a plane permanently based here. There are so many veterans living in San Antonio and South Texas, and we want to be able to fly them all.”

This new plane for AADF will be known as “The Spirit of San Antonio.”

To donate to the Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation and support their quest for “The Spirit of San Antonio,” logon to thebiggivesa.org on Tuesday, May 3. AADF is listed under Military Services.
