Bob MacLeay served our country in the US Army as a combat engineer. He was the only private to survive the war and come home with both a purple heart and a bronze star medal from the Battle of the Bulge. He says about his flight “It was a trill, I enjoyed every minute. I looked out and saw the only 2 things I know in Lawrence, Meadowlark Estates and Kansas State University.” His highlight was blowing taps at the Cadet Chapel at the Air Force Academy. He makes his home at Meadowlark Estates in Lawrence, Kansas.
