, Highlights of Military Service: Crossed the English Channel 59 times with supplies for Omaha Beach.  One night, their sister ship #499 was blown up.  The next night, their other sister ship #501 was blown up.  Their ship, #500, made it safely.  They couldn’t stop and pick up the men on those ships since they were in a war zone.  Went to Hampton, England; Hamburg, Germany; and Oslo, Norway, for supplies then back to Plymouth, England. Brought German prisoners on many of the trips.
