Jim served in the Army during WW2, Korea & Vietnam. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart, Star of Valor & 5 battle stars.
Was drafted in late 45 and was in the occupation of Japan. He says “now don’t laugh, but someone had to guard those geisha gals!” One of first soldiers into Korea, Wounded by mortar 15 days after he arrived in July 50. Went into helicopters, and served 2 tours flying skycranes. He was in an experimental program dropping 10000 lb bombs to clear LZs from 6000′ but it never ended up working quite right.
